Monica Dear is a veteran music teacher for Edmonton Public Schools. A Level III James Hill Ukulele Initiative Certificate holder, she is founder of the Elk Island Senior Honour Choir and has conducted school, church and community choirs. Monica is a recipient of Choir Alberta's Con Spirito award and was Education Manager for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for eight seasons. Teaching teachers how to teach ukulele is one of her favourite things! "She speaks fluent 'teacher.' Help! I’ve Never Taught Ukulele Before!
Ukulele is back! Teaching it well is a skill to be learned. This session introduces sound pedagogy and a sequential plan of lessons for beginner players that will result in strong student outcomes and satisfaction for both teacher and learner. Bring your own ukulele or borrow one at the session.
